38 Southern Lakes Time to Explore Johnsons Crossing A high bridge spans the Teslin River, a place where many paddlers start canoe trips down the Teslin to the <strong>Yukon</strong> River. Just to the east of the bridge is the junction with the South Canol Road (limited facilities and not recommended for large motorhomes), beckoning travellers with a circle-route opportunity through the scenery of the Campbell region. Trumpeter swans returning in early spring – YG Nisutlin Adventure Explore the Nisutlin Delta National Wildlife Area, a major waterfowl staging area that is particularly active in the spring and fall. Thousands of ducks, swans, geese and hundreds of shorebirds pass through on their annual migrations. Some travellers paddle the Ghúch Hîni (Wolf River) and Nałasìn (Nisutlin River), making the delta a wonderful place to end a journey, while others enjoy fishing, birdwatching and wildlife-viewing day trips from nearby Teslin.
