94 North Yukon Time to Explore Rock River Campground Nestled in a pocket of boreal forest, this is the northernmost Government of Yukon campground that you can drive to in the territory. Rock River is located at Km 466 and is one of three government campgrounds along the Dempster Highway. Herschel Island – Qikiqtaruk Territorial Park Journey into the Arctic with a visit to Herschel Island – Qikiqtaruk Territorial Park. Located off Yukon’s north coast in the Beaufort Sea, Herschel is a lush Arctic Eden with carpets of wildflowers and lots of birds and wildlife. This remote island has a rich history, from prehistoric cultures to Inuvialuit hunters to whalers, missionaries and North West Mounted Police. Mueller Vuntut National Park This park offers opportunities for experienced backcountry enthusiasts, including canoeing the Old Crow River, hiking in mountainous areas, and winter ski trips. The park is important to the Hän and Gwich’in people, who have hunted, camped and traded here for centuries. Rafting the Firth River – YG Ivvavik National Park Canada’s first national park established as a result of a land claims settlement, Ivvavik (a place for giving birth and raising young) National Park protects part of the calving grounds of the Porcupine caribou herd.
