Nestled in a pocket of boreal forest,<br />
this is the northernmost Government<br />
of <strong>Yukon</strong> campground that you can<br />
drive to in the territory. Rock River is<br />
located at Km 466 and is one of three<br />
government campgrounds along<br />
the Dempster Highway.<br />
Herschel Island – Qikiqtaruk<br />
Territorial Park<br />
Journey into the Arctic with a visit to<br />
Herschel Island – Qikiqtaruk Territorial<br />
Park. Located off <strong>Yukon</strong>’s north coast in<br />
the Beaufort Sea, Herschel is a lush<br />
Arctic Eden with carpets of wildflowers<br />
and lots of birds and wildlife. This remote<br />
island has a rich history, from prehistoric<br />
cultures to Inuvialuit hunters to whalers,<br />
missionaries and North West Mounted<br />
Police. Trips can be arranged by air and<br />
water from Inuvik, Northwest Territories.<br />

This park offers opportunities for<br />
experienced backcountry enthusiasts,<br />
including canoeing the Old Crow River,<br />

self-sufficient and able to handle any<br />
medical or wildlife-related emergency<br />

Tombstone Territorial Park<br />
Explore the jagged, black granite peaks<br />
and idyllic alpine lakes of Tombstone<br />
Territorial Park. The Dempster Highway<br />
corridor runs through the park, making<br />
wildlife, birds and vegetation accessible to<br />
roadside explorers. The park is important<br />
to the Hän and Gwich’in people, who<br />
have hunted, camped and traded here<br />
