a) high elevation on the sea level; b) high-land with steep mountain side;
c) central location in the study area.
When the nodes of supply and demand were defined, the arcs of the transshipment were
adjusted according to the following considerations (from the observation of the
transportation's solution):
a) Patterns in the direction of the water can be divided in two main directives: i)
from basin n.19093 to the south west and north-east zones, including major
industrial sites in Gela and Augusta and ii) from basin n.19091 to south east
zones including large green houses agricultural sites in the basins 19082-19085;
b) Destination C92 and C82 can be supplied both from source A91 and A93;
According to the above mentioned observation, combined with the geomorphology of
the study area, the transshipment network was drafted (figure 12).

3.9.1 The Transshipment Networks: Two Different

Two transshipment networks were built: one made of 13 arcs and one made of 14 arcs.
