birth to age 13, and he watched every away game with parents on TV.<br />

Peterman, an eighth-year player, is a tough, physical offensive guard who has<br />
manned the right guard spot for most of the past four seasons. He signed<br />
a long-term deal with the lions in 2009 and continues to be counted on to<br />
help anchor the lions interior offensive line.<br />

sims, C Dominic raiola and rT Gosder Cherilus in the team’s season<br />
opener 27-23 win over st. louis (9/9), the offensive line became the unit<br />

line combination for three consecutive years since 1980-82 (lT Karl<br />

for the lions rushers. on 92 offensive plays, the lions allowed just 4<br />
negative plays (minus 11 yards), which included just 1 sack on 56 pass<br />
plays and 3 negative rushes (minus 3 yds) on 36 carries.<br />
¾ Helped the lions’ offensive line hold the eagles’ defense to no sacks<br />
(45 pass attempts) on the day in the lions’ comeback 26-23 overtime<br />
win at Philadelphia in Week 6 (10/14). The line also paved the way for<br />
138 yards on the ground, with only 3 rushes for lost yardage (4 yards).<br />
¾ The offensive line saw their best game of the season in Week 9 at Jacksonville<br />

since 1981-82 that the lions have started the same offensive line<br />

day. Peterman, lT Jeff Backus, lB rob sims, C Dominic raiola and T<br />
Gosder Cherilus was the team’s regular starting offensive line last year<br />
for the lions, including on opening day. The last offensive group to start<br />
in consecutive years was lT Karl Baldischeiler, lG Homer elias, C amos<br />

opening day in that lineup three consecutive years (1980-92).<br />
¾ in the home opener <strong>vs</strong>. Kansas City (9/18), was part of an offensive line<br />
that allowed no sacks for the second consecutive game. The lions offense<br />
generated 48 points in the victory over the Chiefs, the most points<br />
scored by the lions since they garnered 55 points in a Thanksgiving Day<br />
55-20 win over Chicago (11/27/97). That game was also the last time<br />
the team scored 6 offensive touchdowns (rushing and receiving) in a<br />
single game. The last time the lions scored 6 offensive touchdowns<br />
in a game of which at least 4 were via the pass was a 48-17 win over<br />
Chicago (10/19/81).<br />
COLLEGE<br />
an all-america and all-southeastern Conference first-team selection as<br />
a senior, Peterman was a team leader and anchor of an offensive line that<br />
helped lead the lsU Tigers to the seC title and a win over oklahoma in the<br />
sugar Bowl to capture the 2003 national title.<br />
¾ for his career, he appeared in 48 games at lsU, starting 35. He moved<br />
to right guard in his senior season, after starting 25 games over the<br />
previous two years at left guard, and allowed just one sack while playing<br />
a major role in leading an offense that averaged 418.4 yards-per-game.<br />
¾ a first-team all-southeastern Conference pick as a junior, Peterman<br />
started the entire season at left guard and allowed only one sack.<br />
¾ Peterman started his collegiate career as a tight end and spent his<br />
freshman season at defensive end.<br />
¾ He made the switch to offense as a sophomore and started all but one<br />
game at left guard during a very successful second season, allowing<br />
only one quarterback sack.<br />
¾ He played a key role in the Tigers 10-3 season that featured a win over<br />

PERSONAL<br />
Peterman attended st. stanislaus High school in Bay st. louis, Miss.<br />
¾ He was rated the 18th best player in Mississippi by super Prep<br />
Magazine and was a first-team all-state selection and a two-time<br />
all-district choice.<br />
¾ as a senior, Peterman caught 14 passes for 150 yards and one touchdown<br />
and was rated the best tight end in the state.<br />
¾ He was selected for the Mississippi all-star Game.<br />
¾ He also played basketball in high school.<br />
¾ Peterman majored in general studies at lsU.<br />
¾ in the spring of 2005 and 2006, Peterman joined forces with fellow<br />
louisiana state University (lsU) alumnus David Toms to host the<br />
stephen Peterman foundation and David Toms foundation fort Worth<br />
Dinner in fort Worth, Texas.<br />
¾ Proceeds from the fundraising dinner benefited Happy Hill farm academy/Home<br />
- a residential school/farm where socially and academically<br />
disadvantaged youth are given a second chance to prepare for a productive<br />
future – and the David Toms foundation.<br />
¾ He is married to the former Colleen scheyd, and the couple has three<br />
sons, stephen frederick Jr., Timmy and Gerard.<br />
