yards. His 441 yards ranks third all-time in Lions history for
single-game passing yards, and it is the second-highest of
Stafford’s career.
• On the first completion of the game (25 yards to Ryan
Broyles), Stafford surpassed 3,000 yards in the season’s
first 11 games for the second-consecutive year.
• In 2012, Stafford has an NFL-leading 3,429 yards, which
breaks his own franchise record for the most passing yards
through the first 11 games of the season. His previous
mark was 3,119 yards through 11 games in 2011.
¾ In Week 11 vs. Green Bay (11/18), Stafford connected with WR
Calvin Johnson for a 25-yard touchdown and finished with 266
yards on 17-for-29 passing and two interceptions.
¾ In Week 10 at Minnesota (11/11), Stafford threw three touchdown
passes (16 yards to TE Brandon Pettigrew, 1-yard to WR
Titus Young and 11-yard to WR Calvin Johnson) today at Minnesota
(11/11). He now has 71 career touchdown passes in 38
career games, becoming only the third player in NFL history to
throw 70 touchdowns in fewer than 40 games. He joins Hall of
Fame QB Dan Marino Hall of Fame QB Dan Marino (29) and QB
Kurt Warner (31) as the only quarterbacks in NFL history to
throw 70 touchdown passes in fewer than 40 games.
• Stafford’s 16-yarder to Pettigrew and 1-yarder to Young,
gave him 70 touchdowns passes for his career and moved
him past QB Gary Danielson (69; 1976-84) for fourth-place
all-time in team history.
• On his first pass attempt of the game, resulting in a 10yard
completion to TE Brandon Pettigrew, QB Matthew
Stafford surpassed QB Joey Harrington (10,242) for sixth
place on the Lions all-time career passing yards list. He
finished the game with 329 yards to increase his career
yards total to 10,562 yards and is now 149 yards behind
QB Eric Hipple (10,711) for fifth place all-time in team
history.
¾ Stafford threw for 285 yards on 22-of-33 passing at Jacksonville
(11/4) in Week 9. Though he did not throw a touchdown,
Stafford led the Lions into the red zone on four separate occasions,
each resulting in a rushing touchdown by the Lions
backfield. In the game, Stafford eclipsed 10,000 career passing
yards and became the second fastest in NFL history to reach
the mark (37 games), behind only QB Kurt Warner (36 games).
¾ Against Seattle (10/28), Stafford led the Lions to four touchdown
drives and was involved in all four scores, passing for
three, including the game-winner, and rushing in the other. In
the 28-24 home victory, Stafford completed 34-of-49 passes
for 352 yards with three touchdowns and one interception.
• Stafford led yet another comeback game-winning drive
late in the game with a 16-play, 80-yard touchdown drive
to give the Lions the lead with just seconds to play. The
game-winning touchdown was the fourth of Stafford’s
career and second this season.
¾ In Week 6 at Philadelphia (10/14), Stafford rebounded in the
fourth quarter to help lift the Lions to a 26-23 overtime win. In
the fourth quarter and overtime, Stafford was 15-of-24 (62.5
pct) for 220 yards and threw 1 touchdown as he complied 106.3
rating in the final quarter and overtime.
• Trailing as much as 10 points in the fourth, Stafford guided
the Lions to a game-tying field goal with 0:03 left and
helped put them in position for a 45-yard game-winning
field goal. It was his eighth career game-winning drive in
the fourth quarter or overtime and the second overtime
winning drive of his career.
¾ In Week 4 vs. Minnesota (9/30), Stafford completed 30-of-51
passes for 319 yards and scored on a 1-yard dive into the
endzone. It marked his 11th career 300-yard game, and he
has thrown for 300 yards in exactly one-third of his 33 career
starts.
