cary conklin, who serves as the team’s West coast regional scout,<br />
brings both scouting and coaching experience to the team’s player<br />
personnel department. From 2006-08, conklin was a scout for the st.<br />
Louis Rams and was a scout for the Washington Redskins in 2003. as<br />
a coach, conklin coached quarterbacks at Eastern Michigan from 2000-<br />
01 and was the wide receivers coach at the university of Washington<br />
in 1998. he began his coaching career at Washington where he was<br />
a student assistant and worked with quarterbacks from 1996-98.<br />
in 1990, conklin was a fourth-round pick at quarterback by the<br />
Washington Redskins in the nFL draft. he played for the Redskins<br />
from 1990-94 and with the san Francisco 49ers in 1995. conklin was a<br />
teammate of Mayhew with the Redskins during the 1990-92 seasons.<br />
in college, conklin set numerous passing records for the<br />
Washington huskies. he was recruited to play for the huskies<br />
after being named Washington’s gatorade Player of the Year while<br />
attending Eisenhower high school in Yakima, Wash.<br />
conklin is married to wife, demetra, and has two daughters,<br />
cosette and violet, and a son, canon.<br />

chad henry, one of the team’s regional scouts who evaluates<br />
college talent throughout the year, enters his 15th year working fulltime<br />
in the <strong>Lions</strong>’ player personnel department and 16th year overall<br />
in the organization. he originally served as the team’s BLEsto scout<br />
before being promoted to area scout in 2000.<br />
henry possesses a variety of experience, both in coaching and<br />
scouting at all levels of football. Before being hired full-time in 1998,<br />
he spent a year as an intern in the <strong>Lions</strong>’ personnel department and<br />
assisted in numerous capacities in both college and pro scouting. he<br />
also served as a personnel and coaching staff assistant for the san<br />
diego chargers during training camp in 1996. among henry’s coaching<br />
stops were at his alma mater, indiana (Pa.) area senior high school in<br />
the Fall of ‘97, and as a scholastic level summer league baseball coach<br />
in 1996-97. he is also active with the western Pa-based charitable<br />
organization the homeboys Foundation, including coaching at their<br />
annual free football camp for youth ages 6-18.<br />
although side effects from a bout with cancer during high school<br />
ended henry’s playing career prematurely, he continued in football<br />
as a student assistant at Penn state from 1991-93. he was also an<br />
undergraduate assistant coach and recruiting assistant at indiana<br />
university of Pennsylvania upon transferring there in the spring<br />
of 1994.<br />
in May 1996, henry received his bachelor degree from indiana<br />
university of Pennsylvania in English. he completed his master’s work<br />
in labor and industrial relations from the same school in May 1998.<br />
henry, and his wife, holly, reside in Pittsburgh, Pa. they have three<br />
children: Leah , Madeline, and trent. henry’s father, Jack, coached<br />
the <strong>Lions</strong>’ offensive line from 1997-99, and retired in 2009 after a 40<br />
year coaching career.<br />

Joe Kelleher joined the <strong>Lions</strong> in June, 2011 and enters his second<br />
season with the team. he serves as the team’s BLEsto scout.<br />
Kelleher joined the <strong>Lions</strong>’ Player Personnel department having<br />
worked most recently as a scouting assistant for national Football<br />
scouting and the national invitational camp (nFL combine). after<br />
his hiring by national Football scouting in november 2009, Kelleher<br />
assisted in several aspects of the organization’s operations, including<br />
the review of scouting reports, overseeing daily management of the<br />
nFL Medical database website and assisting in the preparation and<br />
operations of the nFL combine held annually in indianapolis.<br />
Earlier that year, Kelleher served a six-month internship as a<br />
scouting intern for BLEsto scouting.<br />
in 2008, Kelleher interned for the <strong>Lions</strong> Football operations<br />
department, and he assisted with the team’s training camp logistics,<br />
team travel and other aspects of the team’s day-to-day football<br />
operations. he previously interned with the new York giants Pro<br />
Personnel department during training camp in 2007.<br />
Kelleher attended Butler university and played offensive tackle<br />
and tight end for the Bulldogs football team. Kelleher graduated from<br />
Butler with a bachelor’s degree in business-marketing. he went on to<br />
earn a master’s of business administration and a master’s of sports<br />
administration from ohio university.<br />
Kelleher is a native of Potomac, Maryland and currently resides<br />
in indianapolis, indiana.<br />

Regional Scout<br />

Rob Lohman enters his sixth season with the <strong>Lions</strong>. he serves<br />
as the team’s college scouting coordinator, handling various<br />
administrative duties within the college scouting department, and<br />
is also a regional scout.<br />
he originally joined the player personnel staff in May 2007 and<br />
had a variety of responsibilities in both college and pro scouting,<br />
including serving as the team’s advance scout during his first season.<br />
Previously, Lohman spent six years with the houston texans, and<br />
was a member of the organization before it began play in the nFL in<br />
2002. From 2004-06, he served as the team’s northeast regional scout,<br />
and was the team’s pro administrator from 2002-03. additionally in<br />
2003, he handled all the team advance scouting duties. Lohman joined<br />
the texans in 2001 as a scouting intern.<br />
Before entering the nFL ranks in 2001, he was a graduate<br />
assistant at syracuse university, where he earned his master’s degree<br />
in higher education.<br />
in 1998, Lohman was a special teams and recruiting assistant<br />
at hofstra.<br />
Lohman graduated from the university of south carolina, where<br />
he earned a bachelor degree in sports management and worked with<br />
the gamecock’s football program as an undergraduate recruiting<br />
assistant. he and his wife, Mari, have a son, Brenden.
