with two and Fairley and Vanden Bosch each combined for half
a sack.
• Overall, the Lions defense recorded 10 tackles for loss
against the Eagles, seven of which were from players on
the defensive line.
¾ While Detroit’s pass rush only sacked Vikings (9/30) QB Christian
Ponder twice, they finished with seven quarterback hurries
and helped the defense limit Minnesota to just 100 net passing
yards. It was the lowest team passing output the Lions
allowed since yielding just 56 yards at Cleveland October 23,
2005.
¾ DT Ndamukong Suh was credited with a half-a-sack (.5) vs.
the Vikings (9/30) and became tied for the most sacks (16.5) in
the NFL among defensive tackles since 2010.
• Suh tied DT Henry Thomas for seventh among Lions defensive
tackles for career sacks (since 1982).
¾ Suh registered a sack in the second quarter at San Francisco
(9/16) for a 12-yard loss. With that sack, he extended his
streak of games with a sack to three, dating back the 2011
season finale. It marked the first time in his career that he has
recorded sacks in three-straight games.
• Suh’s sack marked the second time in three seasons he
has registered sacks in each of the season’s first two
games. He recorded sacks in the first two games of his
rookie season in 2010.
¾ DT Corey Williams helped thwart the 49ers (9/16) first drive
in the third quarter when he dropped QB Alex Smith for a 13yard
loss. Williams registered sacks in two of the team’s first
three games.
¾ Suh registered his first sack (12-yard loss) of the season in the
second quarter against the Rams (9/9). It was his 15th sack in
31 career games.
¾ Fairley opened up with the team’s first sack of the season in
the second quarter that forced the Rams (9/9) to kick a field
goal. It was his second-career sack.
¾ Williams registered a sack-fumble (recovered by Rams)
against St. Louis (9/9) in the fourth quarter to force a punt.
geTTINg a kIck OUT OF HaNSON
The Lions’ two-time Pro Bowl kicker Jason Hanson is one of the
NFL’s top all-around kickers. He is in his 21st season and is the
franchise leader for most seasons and games played with the Lions.
Hanson continues to show consistent accuracy and distance
on both field goals and kickoffs.
¾ K Jason Hanson ranks first in every statistical category for a
place kicker in Lions history with longest field goal (56), field
goals made (491) and attempted (597), extra points made
(661) and extra points attempted (669). He also ranks as the
franchise leader in games played (325) and was named to the
Lions’ 75th Season All-Time Team in 2008.
• Hanson’s 2,136 career points ranks first in all-time scoring
among active players (fourth overall).
• He is the sixth player in NFL history to score 2,000 career
points and the first to do it with one team. He has led the
team in scoring 18 seasons, which is tied for third all-time.
¾ Through the first 13 games of the season, Hanson has scored
114 points, connected on 27-of-31 field goals (87.1 pct),
and has made 14 field goals from 40-49 yards. His 58 points
through the first four games were the second highest tally of
his career to start the season. In 2011, he registered 51 points
in the first five games of the season.
• Hanson’s 44 points in the first four games tied for the
third-most over a four-game stretch during his 21-year career.
Besides the 45 to begin last season, he also tallied 45
points over a four-game stretch in October-November 1993
and 44 points over four games in October-November 1999.
¾ Hanson connected on a 41-yard field goal in Week 15 at Arizona
(12/16), giving him 187 40+-yard fielg goals for his career.
