the Administrative Assistant who has lost her job as a result of the transition. She asked<br />

for prayer and expressed appreciation for all the Administrative Assistants. Ernest Love<br />

(WI - Ocean View) asked a question and the Bishop responded. The Bishop recognized<br />

Ken Ripley who asked a question about the role of the District Superintendents. Ron Scott<br />

(SA - Macedonia/Ophir) moved the previous question. The Bishop tested the <strong>Conference</strong><br />

for readiness to vote. It was determined the body was ready to vote on the Transition Team<br />

report. Linda Taylor was given the privilege of a final statement. Bishop called for a vote on<br />

the Transition Team report. The Transition Team report was supported. (Rev. Joyner did not<br />

vote.) The Bishop recognized Cleve May and thanked him for his presence despite an injury.<br />

He also invited the Transition Team members to stand and be recognized by the Annual<br />

<strong>Conference</strong>. Bishop Gwinn then made a unanimous consent request that the Transition Team<br />

stay in place and assist in the implementation of the new transition plan. Unanimous consent<br />

was given by the Annual <strong>Conference</strong>.<br />

Overview of Financial Status:<br />

Bishop Gwinn called on Christine Dodson, <strong>Conference</strong> Treasurer, to present a financial<br />

overview of the Report of Council on Finance and Administration. Ms. Dodson introduced<br />

Rev. Danny Allen, Chair of Council on Finance & Administration. Rev. Allen presented<br />

the Council on Finance & Administration proposed budget report for 2013 This report is<br />

found on page 13 in the North Carolina Christian Advocate, June <strong>2012</strong>. Rev. Allen asked<br />

the members of the Council on Finance & Administration to stand to be recognized by<br />

the Annual <strong>Conference</strong>. Rev. Allen reported that the <strong>NC</strong> Annual <strong>Conference</strong> paid 100% of<br />

the world service apportionments. Bishop Gwinn recognized the <strong>NC</strong> Annual <strong>Conference</strong><br />

as one of seventeen conferences to accomplish that. Bishop Gwinn thanked Rev. Allen and<br />

the CF&A team for their leadership. The Council on Finance & Administration report<br />

begins on page 9 in the North Carolina Christian Advocate, June <strong>2012</strong>. The chair moved for<br />

the adoption of Section 1 of the report of the CF&A. Bishop Gwinn recognized Michelle<br />

Haywood (SA - Parson’s Grove) who moved to delete line 51 of the budget concerning<br />

the <strong>NC</strong> Council of Churches. The motion was seconded. Bishop Gwinn recognized Chris<br />

Humphreys (SA - Center) who rose to a point of inquiry and Bishop Gwinn ruled the<br />

inquiry out of order. Reggie Ponder (SA - District Superintendent) spoke in favor of<br />

the motion. Bishop Gwinn recognized Edgar DeJesus (FA - Cornerstone), chair of the<br />

<strong>Conference</strong> Committee on Christianity and Interreligious Concerns, who spoke against the<br />

motion. Bishop Gwinn recognized Rufus Stark (Retired) who spoke against the motion.<br />

Bishop Gwinn recognized Steve Taylor from the <strong>Conference</strong> Office who spoke against the<br />

motion. Bishop Gwinn recognized Patricia Archer (Pine Valley - WI) who rose to a point<br />

of inquiry. Bishop Gwinn invited Christine Dodson, <strong>Conference</strong> Treasurer to respond to<br />

the inquiry. Bishop Gwinn recognized J. H. Daniels (SA - Broadway/Morris Chapel) to<br />

offer an amendment to the motion. Bishop Gwinn clarified for the <strong>Conference</strong> that his was<br />

not a friendly amendment to the amendment but rather an amendment. His amendment<br />

died for lack of a second. Bishop Gwinn recognized Bill Gattis, Burlington District<br />

Superintendent, who spoke against the amendment. Bishop Gwinn recognized Harry Teti<br />

(FA - Hoke County Charge) who spoke in favor of the amendment. Bishop Gwinn then<br />

tested the body and determined that the body was ready to vote. The vote was called and<br />

the amendment failed. Bishop Gwinn called for a vote on Section 1 of the CF&A and the<br />

Annual <strong>Conference</strong> approved Section 1. Rev. Allen, Chair CF&A, moved the approval<br />

of Section 2 of the report and Section 2 was approved. Rev. Allen moved the adoption of<br />

Sections 3, 4 & 5 of the report of the CF&A. The vote was called and Sections 3, 4 & 5<br />

were approved. Under Section 6, there was one correction to be made under D of Section<br />

6: change Methodist College to Methodist University. Rev. Allen moved the adoption of
