Samuel S. Lee<br />

1925 – <strong>2012</strong><br />

Sam Lee was born November 3, 1925 in Korea. He entered the<br />

ministry in 1957 in the Korean Methodist church. He served<br />

Korean congregations in Korea and Florida before transferring<br />

into the North Carolina <strong>Conference</strong> in 1992. He retired in<br />

1994, and the last church he served was Fayetteville United<br />

Methodist Korean Church.<br />

His funeral was held in Downey, California by Rev. Joseph S.<br />

Paik. He was buried at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier,<br />

California.<br />

He is survived by his children James, Brian and Charles Lee all from Los Angeles, CA.<br />

Additional family members from Korea whom Samuel is survived by are Myung-Gee, Moon-<br />

Gee and Monica Lee all from Seoul, Korea.<br />

He has served God throughout his life as a pastor at the United Methodist churches in Korea<br />

and Korean communities in the U.S. and as a professor at the United Methodist Theological<br />

Seminary in Korea.<br />

Martha Phillips Lewis<br />

1949-2011<br />

Born Martha Claire Phillips April 8, 1949 in Camden, New<br />

Jersey.<br />

Died Oct 26, 2011 at Duke Medical Center Hospice Facility in<br />

Durham, N.C., after a five year battle with breast cancer.<br />

She had served as pastor at Pollocksville UMC and was the<br />

pastor at Campbell’s Creek UMC in Aurora, N.C. until her<br />

medical condition forced her to give up that appointment.<br />

Funeral Service was Oct 29, 2011 at 11:00 am at Pollocksville<br />

United Methodist Church in Pollocksville, N.C. with Rev. Diane LeBlanc and New Bern<br />

District Superintendent Reverend Dennis Goodwin officiating.<br />

Burial Service and interment was Oct 29, 2011 at 2:30 pm at her home church, Tuttle’s<br />

Grove United Methodist Church in Beaufort, N.C., with Rev. Diane LeBlanc and New Bern<br />

District Superintendent Reverend Dennis Goodwin officiating.<br />

She is survived by her husband, Cecil O’Brien Lewis of New Bern; sister Mary Phillips<br />

Stephens of North Canton, Ohio; brother John Phillips of Red Lion, Pa.; sons Scott<br />

Kimbleton of Jacksonville, Fl; Nathan Kimbleton of Boyington Beach, Fl; Michael Lewis<br />

of New Bern; Thomas Lewis of New Bern; and granddaughters Brittany Lewis, Ariana<br />

Kimbleton, Madalene Kimbleton.
