contain reports of the various committees which were not read. Rev. Hill asked the body<br />

to turn to page 4 of the report. He called attention to the nominees for the Administrative<br />

Review Committee to be approved by the Executive Session. Bishop Gwinn called for the<br />

vote and they were approved. On page 5, Nominations for the Board of Managers, Pastor’s<br />

School and Convocation, Rev. Hill called for a vote for the members of the class of 2016.<br />

Bishop Gwinn recognized Joe Mann who stated that Andy Keck, who is a member of the<br />

class of <strong>2012</strong>, will be leaving the Annual <strong>Conference</strong> and will need to be replaced. The class<br />

of 2016 was approved by the Executive Session. Rev. Hill referred to pages 31 and 32 of the<br />

Board report to the list of those to be approved for Full Connection membership so they may<br />

have voting privileges for the rest of the Executive Session. Those listed were called before the<br />

Executive Session. Bishop Gwinn asked them the historical questions. Bishop Gwinn called<br />

for the vote and the candidates were approved. The Executive Session greeted the newlyelected-members<br />

with a standing ovation.<br />

Bishop Gwinn asked Jon Strother, Raleigh District Superintendent to lead the Executive<br />

Session in the singing of “Spirit Song.” Rev. Hill then referred the Executive Session back<br />

to the report and made mention of the errata sheet. Rev. Hill worked his way through the<br />

entire report of the Board and at times referred to the errata sheet to make corrections and<br />

additions.<br />

Bishop Gwinn recognized the Local Pastors and asked the Executive Session to approve<br />

them and they were approved.<br />

Under question 24, The Bishop recognized those clergy from other annual conferences<br />

serving within the bounds of our <strong>Conference</strong>. He asked them to stand up and they were<br />

recognized with a round of applause. Under question 25, page 28, Clergy in good standing<br />

from other denominations, were approved by the Executive Session and greeted with<br />

applause. Under question 26 on page 28, Affiliate members without vote, were approved<br />

by the necessary ⅔ majority. On page 29, question 28, Provisional deacons and provisional<br />

elders under the provisions of paragraph 324, the candidates were asked to come before the<br />

Executive Session. Bishop Gwinn addressed the Provisional deacons and elders and asked<br />

them the historic questions.<br />

Ned Hill, the chair of the Board, informed the Bishop that one of the candidates, Gloria<br />

Winston Harris, was not present at the Executive session and the District Superintendent did<br />

not know why she was absent. Bishop Gwinn recommended that the body grant provisional<br />

approval to Harris after investigating the reason for her absence. The candidates were<br />

approved. They then received a round of applause and a standing ovation.<br />

Under question 29e, page 30, Provisional Members who transferred from other conferences<br />

and denominations, Regine Jean-Baptiste and Laura Wyant Wittman were invited to stand<br />

and be greeted by the Executive Session.<br />

Under question 37 page 32, who have been received by transfer from other annual<br />

conferences, Rev. Hill asked these persons to stand and receive a round of applause. Under<br />

question 41 page 33, the names of James Stanley McQuade and Pulman Glade were added.<br />

Under question 42, page 33, who are discontinued as probationary members, Rev. Hill<br />

explained the full judiciary process by which the decision to discontinue Brenda Jones was<br />

made. Rev. Hill called upon Patricia Archer to report of the work of the Administrative<br />

Review Committee which met on May 31. Rev. Archer reported that due process had been<br />

followed. Bishop Gwinn called on the vote for the discontinuance of the persons in question<br />

and it was approved. Bishop Gwinn then offered a word of prayer.
