allocated to the budgeted boards and agencies, and supplemental appropriations are decided at<br />

the meeting.<br />

• March 25, 2013: To consider the budget to be recommended to Annual <strong>Conference</strong> which<br />

will be raised in the subsequent year and spent in the year following that. Additionally, the<br />

CFA policy recommendations to the Annual <strong>Conference</strong> are adopted.<br />

O. Dates to Remember:<br />

• July 20, <strong>2012</strong>: Apportionments sent to the Districts.<br />

• December 3, <strong>2012</strong>: Requests for the 2015 budget, to be adopted at the 2013 Annual<br />

<strong>Conference</strong>, due in the Treasurer’s Office.<br />

• November 7, <strong>2012</strong>: Requests for supplemental appropriations for the <strong>2012</strong> operating budget<br />

due in the treasurer’s office.<br />

• January 16, 2013: Annual <strong>Conference</strong> and General Church remittances must be received by<br />

8:30 A.M. in order to receive credit for <strong>2012</strong>. (Subject to change based on GCFA final closing<br />

date.)<br />

• January 18, 2013: Requests for supplemental appropriations for the 2013 operating budget<br />

due in the treasurer’s office.<br />

• January 31, 2013: Tables I, II and III due to the <strong>Conference</strong> statistician.<br />

IX. United Methodist Personal<br />

Investment Plan (UMPIP and UMLifeOptions)<br />

A. GENERAL<br />

1. The lay employee’s supervisor is responsible for making lay employees aware of these rules<br />

and procedures. Detailed information on the UMPIP and the UMLifeOptions is available<br />

from the treasurer’s office. Supervisors will have lay employees who are eligible for these<br />

benefits contact the treasurer’s office 60 days before they are eligible for participation, or sign<br />

a waiver form if they decline to participate in the UMPIP. The form will be kept on file in<br />

the treasurer’s office for future reference.<br />

2. The <strong>Conference</strong> treasurer’s office will administer the UMPIP and the UMLifeOptions.<br />

3. Contributions will be withheld from the employees pay and remitted to the General Board<br />

of Pensions by the treasurer’s office within ten business days after receiving the bill from the<br />

General Board of Pensions.<br />

B. UNITED METHODIST PERSONAL INVESTMENT PLAN (UMPIP - Effective January<br />

1, 2006)<br />

1. The lay employee must be full time (at least 20 hours per week).<br />

2. The lay employee must be an employee for 1 continuous year before becoming eligible for<br />

UMPIP.<br />

3. The conference contribution will be twelve percent (12%) of the employee’s base<br />

compensation.<br />

4. The lay employee’s required contribution will be 3% of the employee’s base compensation.<br />

Participants in the UMPIP must be participants in the UMLifeOptions.<br />

C. UMLifeOptions<br />

1. The UMLifeOptions plan is a death and disability plan for lay employees.<br />

2. UMLifeOptions is an employer funded plan and, as such, is required enrollment for all<br />

eligible employees.<br />

3. Employees are eligible after one year of employment working at least 20 hours per week.<br />
