Report of the Board of Ordained Ministry:
Bishop Gwinn called on Ned Hill, chair of the Conference Board of Ordained Ministry,
to bring the report of the Conference Board of Ordained Ministry. Rev. Hill invited the
members of the Board of Ordained Ministry to stand and be recognized. The members were
given a round of applause.
Rev. Hill prefaced his report with a plea for the Conference to help our younger members in
discerning a possible call to ministry. Rev. Hill then recognized those who are licensed for the
first time at the 2012 Annual Conference to be Local Pastors. Rev. Hill concluded the report.
Bishop Gwinn presented the newly Licensed Local Pastors with a pocket Book of Worship
and asked the Annual Conference to covenant to pray for these new Local Pastors as they
are assigned to congregations. They were greeted with a standing ovation. Bishop Gwinn
then offered a word of prayer on behalf of the new Local Pastors and thanked Ned Hill for
his leadership of the Board of Ordained Ministry. He received a round of applause from the
Annual Conference.
Report of the Committee on Insurance:
Bishop Gwinn recognized Christine Dodson, Conference Treasurer to continue the financial
report. Ms. Dodson called upon Rev. Joe Casteel, chair of the Insurance Committee to bring
the report of the Insurance Committee found in the 2012 Conference Workbook on pages 39
- 43. The Insurance Committee recommended no change in the premium or benefits package
for the year 2013. Rev. Casteel commented on the clergy health initiative and the positive
difference it has made. Rev. Casteel moved the adoption of the report from the Insurance
Committee. The vote was taken and the Annual Conference approved the report of the
Insurance Committee.
Bishop Gwinn recognized Ken Ripley, (RM - Spring Hope) who rose to a point of
information regarding the budget. Bishop Gwinn ruled Mr. Ripley out of order.
Report of the Board of Pensions:
Bishop Gwinn recognized Cashar Evans, Kitty Hawk - EC, Chair of the Board of Pensions,
to make the report which is found on page 44 in the 2012 Conference Workbook. One
addition was made under Report A, Section 5c - add the name Elva LeRoy Morton. Mr.
Evans moved the adoption of Section A from the Board of Pensions. The vote was taken and
Section A was adopted from the report of the Board of Pensions. Mr. Evans then moved that
report B from the Board of Pensions Report be adopted. The vote was taken and Report B
was adopted. Mr. Evans moved the adoption of reports C, D, & E. The vote was taken and
those sections were adopted.
Report of the Joint Committee on Incapacity:
Bishop Gwinn recognized Rev. Ralph Brown (RM - Nashville) Chair of the Joint Committee
on Incapacity to present their report. This report can be found on pages 35 - 38 of the 2012
Conference Workbook. Rev. Brown moved for the adoption of the report. The vote was taken
and the Annual Conference adopted the report from the Joint Committee on Incapacity.
