Giradon's most signifi cant late work was a
majestic bronze equestrian statue of Louis
XIV (1683-1692) executed for the Place
Vendôme in Paris and based on the famous
Roman equestrian monument of the emperor
Marcus Aurelius. Giradon's work was
destroyed during the French Revolution, but
several smaller copies of it exist.

Benjamin Benjamin Gray born 1676 was clockmaker to
George II from 1744 until his death in 1762.
