534 h'A THBONE GENEA LOU V.
William bought 200 acres of laud in Blenheim, Canada, on
which he built two saw mills; he brought the first shingle
mill into that part of the country about 1850. He rafted his
lumber down the river to Brantford until about 1870, when
the railroad built a station about one mile from his mill. This
enabled him to ship his lumber and shingles by rail. He died
within a mile of the cemetery where his parents were buried.
,yet he was taken to his home and there buried; six of his
grandsons were pall bearers. His children were all present
at the funeral. He was a kind father, was of a pleasant and
genial disposition, fond of a joke and a pleasant word for all.
