born in Newport Village. N. Y., in 180S and died Sept. 6.<br />

1890, in Ogram. Minn.; she was the daughter of Jacob and<br />

Mary Cummings. Her mother's maiden name was Frank-<br />

lin. Jacob was a Revolutionary soldier; not one of his six<br />

sons ever used wine or tobacco; five of the oldest were born<br />

in Norway, Herkimer Co., N. Y.; he removed to Wisconsin<br />

in 1843; in J 847, he removed to Milwaukee, Wis., and shortly<br />

after removed to Sheboygan and in 1849 or '50 removed to<br />

Monroe county, where he died March 11, 1866. For over<br />

twenty years he was a Methodist exhorter of the old school:<br />

he was a man of considerable ability. He died a faithful and<br />
