Xourse. March 31. 1867; she was born Aug. 2. 1849. and
died May 19. 1872: "buried in First Parish (Universalis!)
cemetery at Stoughton. He married, second, Madora
Peaselee of Newton, X. H.. Dec. 31, 1877. His father was
of English descent, his mother German, his mother's mother
was Scotch and was descended from John Guild Scott, who
settled in Leadman, Mass.. two centuries ago. Jabez was
county commissioner in 1886; served in Co. A. 4th Massachusetts
Vol. in the civil war, Sept. 17, 1862, reenlisted
Aug. 17. 1864. in 23d unattached Co.. Mass. Infantry Vols.
He is now (1898) in the real estate and insurance business
and is justice of peace. He is a man of excellent abilities
and considerable means. His father was a farmer of means
