and only daughter, with niece, (accompanied by an aunt<br />

who had lived with them the hrst year oi their marneU lite;<br />

went on an eastern trip and visited the old home. Found<br />

the house still standing, and in very good condition, with<br />

flowers tastefully arranged in the yard and although, it had<br />

an old appearance, did not look shattered and tumbled down.<br />

They sat in the room that their father had used for a tailor<br />

shop. They drew a picture of the house, took a view of the<br />

few remaining apple and peach trees; took a relic irom the<br />

stone wall, that their mother had built with her own hands;<br />

sat awhile on a large flat stone, about 1.2x15 close to the back<br />

door; where she used often to set her table and do her<br />

spinning; a relic also was taken from this stone and then with<br />

tears they took a farewell look, precious only because it was<br />

their parents first home. Children:<br />

Coggeshall <strong>Rathbone</strong> on Sept. 10. 1764. writes to<br />

Susan Coffin at Nantucket, letter dated at Sterling, informing<br />

her of the birth of a "stally" boy on the 7th and that she<br />

was "bravely" this "stally" boy was Jonathan, father of<br />
