was his cousin. Judson is in husiness in New ^ ork and<br />

lives in Roseville. New Jersey. Children:<br />

), horn in Stonington. Conn.. Jan. 25. 1738: married<br />

Martha Rohinson, daughter of Edward* R. ; she died May 17,<br />

1788 (hook 4. p. 408. Pittsfield records). Amos <strong>Rathbone</strong>,<br />

as shown by Pittsfield records, purchased large tracts of land<br />

in the province of Massachusetts Bay. In 1787. he joined<br />

the Shaker Society at West Pittsfield. Mass.. hecoming an<br />

Elder, holding that position at the time of his death. July<br />

24, 181 7. He was a pious and good man.<br />

Letter of Ira R. Lawson. relative to Amos <strong>Rathbone</strong> and<br />

others who were members of the Shaker Society of West<br />

Pittsfield. Mass.: "Friend J. C. Cooley. yours of the 16th<br />

inst. received in due time and also the letter addressed to<br />

the Elder. After a long time I am able to give some answers<br />

to your questions. Amos <strong>Rathbone</strong>. died July 24.<br />

1817. There is no record of his children living with us.<br />

Think they all died elsewhere. Daniel, his brother, was the<br />

father of Lucy <strong>Rathbone</strong>. who died in this Society, Oct. 5,<br />

1 861. at the age of 75 years. Steuben Langworthy's father<br />

name was Simon, his mother a Robins. Amos had a sister<br />

that married Ezekiel Goodrich, she came to this Society in<br />

its early days. Her name was L T uicr: I do not find the date<br />
