Notes<br />
1 Area may be increased to 50 sq. ft. by special permit issued pursuant to Section 5.6.6 here<strong>of</strong>.<br />
For multi-tenant buildings and properties, each tenant may utilize up to 6 sq. ft. on the sign. For<br />
multi-tenant properties, standing sign may be up to 75 sq. ft. in area and one standing sign may<br />
be erected at each roadway intersection located wholly within the property. Such standing sign<br />
shall not exceed 16 sq. ft. in area.<br />
2 Maximum sign area for wall signs shall be 15% <strong>of</strong> the wall to which the sign is attached. The<br />
maximum sign area for window signs shall be 30% <strong>of</strong> the window in which the sign is located.<br />
However, for tenants <strong>of</strong> multi-tenant buildings, maximum sign area as to wall or window signs<br />
shall be 10 sq. ft.<br />
3 Sign for the purpose <strong>of</strong> advertising sales or specials by interchangeable messages or letters.<br />
4 In addition, one secondary wall or window sign not to exceed in area 50% <strong>of</strong> the primary wall<br />
or window sign is permitted by special permit issued pursuant to Section 5.6.6 here<strong>of</strong>.<br />
5 Temporary signs shall be removed within five (5) days after the reason for the sign message has<br />
ended.<br />
6 Three (3) signs permitted per business, maximum area 2 sq. ft. each. Additional free-standing<br />
signs (the number <strong>of</strong> which is at the discretion <strong>of</strong> the Planning Board) may be permitted provided<br />
that the following criteria is met: a) the applicant provides sufficient evidence to the Planning<br />
Board supporting the need for additional signs; b) the use for which the signs are requested is<br />
located at least four (4) street intersections away from any collector or major street as defined by<br />
the Rules and Regulations Governing the Subdivision <strong>of</strong> Land; c) in the opinion <strong>of</strong> the Planning<br />
Board, the design and material <strong>of</strong> the sign will not detract from the character <strong>of</strong> the surrounding<br />
area or from the <strong>Town</strong> as a whole; and d) all other requirements <strong>of</strong> this Section are met. A<br />
majority vote by the Planning Board will determine whether the request for additional signs for<br />
directional purposes is permitted.<br />
7 Signs promoting the election <strong>of</strong> a political candidate shall not require a permit, but shall follow<br />
all other applicable requirements for temporary <strong>of</strong>f-premises signs.<br />
