in 1853. He married, Oct 14, 1869, in Alemeda county,
Cal., Sarah Jane Elliott, who was born in DeKalb county.
111., March n, 1850. Her parents. Joshua and Minerva
(Leonard) Elliott, were natives of Ohio. Children:

July 2, 1796. He married, March 25, 1823. Julia Howe
Putnam, a great granddaughter of Gen. Isreal Putnam, of
revolutionary fame; she died April 6. 1824, and he married,
second, Nov. 3, 1825, Catherine H. Putnam, who died in
March, 1885. He resided in New York city for a time,
but in early manhood removed to Ohio, and for a number
of years lived in Columbus; he afterward settled on a farm
near Belpre. where he lived until 1856. He died at the
home of his sister, Elizabeth Coon, at Bernadotte. 111.
