at LeRov, Genesee Co., X. Y.. Sept. 28, 1826. He married<br />

Maria H. Crane of East Bloomtield, N. Y., May 1, 1854.<br />

He went to Detroit in 1852, where soon he became interested<br />

in real estate in which business he remained until his<br />

death, Xov. 22, 18S3, in his 57th year. A few years before<br />

his death he had retired from active business, as a successful<br />

business man of considerable property. He was a man<br />

of unusual business ability, far sighted and ahead of his time<br />

in his always correct and excellent judgment of his business<br />

methods, conservative and careful and ever active<br />

made him at his death highly esteemed as a business<br />

man and a prominent good citizen. His bright cheerful<br />

disposition, his unusual love for his friends and relatives and<br />

his old home made him beloved by all who knew him. He<br />

was much wedded to his old X T ew York home, which place<br />

he visited only a few weeks before he died. His wife survived<br />

him and his three children; all residents of Detroit,<br />

Mich. The widow died at Clifton Springs. N. Y., June 5,<br />

1885. Her father was Charles Crane of Canandaigua. X.<br />

Y.. and her mother was Huldah (Brown) Crane. The first<br />

of the family who came to this country was Henrv Crane<br />

of Boston. Mass.: an Englishman, he had a son. John 3 , also<br />

of Boston. Mass. The next was Jonathan 4 , he<br />
