seemed to restore him to health. He'returned to London the<br />

last of April the year following on his way back to his own<br />

country. He was suddenly seized with fever and died May<br />

6, 1 83 1. His body was placed in the family vault of the Rev.<br />

Daniel Wilson; then Vicar of Islington, afterward Bishop of<br />

Feb. 7, 1807; married Hon. Samuel Miller of Rochester,<br />

N. Y., May 20, 1833; ne ^vas l3 ° rn at Willston, Vermont,<br />

March 9, 1801. "He was a lawyer, was made judge of the<br />

Court of Common Pleas in the same county and subsequently<br />

a senator in the Legislature of that state, "in the Autumn of<br />

i860 he removed to New Haven, Conn., to have care over the<br />

eldest son who had just returned from college. They were<br />

Presbyterians. In 1S73 a fellowship was founded in Yale by<br />

Mrs. Miller and named the Douglas Fellowship in memory<br />

of. her brother, the Rev. Sutherland Douglas. A. M. (Y. C,<br />

1822), and George H. Douglas. A. M.. 1828. This fellow-<br />

ship, the first ever founded in the college yielded at least six<br />

hundred dollars a year "<br />

4- Alanson Douglas Miller, b. Dec. 13, 1842. Graduated at Vale<br />

in 1 864; after three years' travel and study abroad entered Gen Theological<br />

seminary, New York city, and became a clergyman in the Protestant-Episcopal<br />

church; he m. Maria Russell Bluker of Brooklyn.<br />

N. Y.; was rector of St. Peter's church. Millford, Conn., five years; in<br />

1878 rector of St. John's church. Hartford. Conn.<br />

5- Mary Douglas Miller, b. Nov. 1. 1844; d. April 20, 1846.<br />

6. George Douglas Miller, b. Nov. 5, 1847; graduated at Yale in<br />

1870; m. Anna DePeyster. daughter of Valket P. and Helen L. (Franchot)<br />

Dow; (son is of Dutch origin and appears in the earliest records<br />

of Albany. X. Y.) YVolvenhook. the family residence at Dow Point,<br />

opposite Albany, having been in possession of the family for over 250<br />

years. This is the only family of the name in America, and is now f'78)<br />

represented in the male line by Mr. Miller's uncle. John DePeyster Dow<br />

of Poughkeepsie. X. Y.. and an infant son of her deceased brother. Pascal<br />

Stanislaus Franchot left France during the commercial depression<br />

preceding the revolutionary troubles, and settled at Otsego Co.. N. Y.<br />
