June 8, 1820; married Solomon Smith Phillips, May 2, 1842
in Steuben Co., Ind. she died Aug. 24, 1886. He was a
sailor, was lieutenant of U. S. government supply vessel from
1865 to 1867, when he quit sailing. He was 78 years old
Jan. 11, 1894; she was born in town of Sempronius, Cayuga
Co., N. Y. He was born Jan. 11. 1816 in Livingston. Cayuga
Co., N. Y, His father was Elder Joshua Phillips, who
married Rebecca Smith. He died March 21. 1845; she died
August 2, 1872. His father was John "Phillips. Solomon
sailed on the lakes 7,8 years. Children:
1. Alice Amelia Phillip.-, b- Feb- 15. 1843; m- Sheldon Perry
Ewell. Jan. 1, 1870; no issue.
2. Lesbia Lavanche Phillips, b. Sept. 6, 1853; she d. April 24,
1856. at Berlin Heights. Erie Co., Ohio. On Feb. 27, 1893, Alice was
granted a divorce and assumed her maiden name and returned to the
home of her father. Joshua and Rebecca Phillips moved to Berlin
Heights from Boston. Mass. John Phillips was on the staff of General
Washington in the war of the revolution.
