(Clark) Huntington. He was born in Norwich, Conn., in<br />

1739; great great grandson of Mathews and Lydia (Leonard)<br />

Huntington, born at Norwich. Conn, in 1694; great, great,<br />

great grandson of Christopher and Sarah (Adgate) Huntington,<br />

born at Norwich. Conn., 1660; great, great, great.<br />

grandson of Simon and Margaret (Bant) Huntington, who<br />

came from England in 1630. On his mother's side he was<br />

111.. . 1833. He was grand nephew of Daniel<br />

Boone the first settler of Kentucky. He was born Dec. 8.<br />

1808. in Fayette Co., and died Jan. 24. 1882. in Chicago.<br />

111. He served in the Black Hawk war as surgeon with the<br />

rank of captain and was an eminent physician of Chicago<br />

forty years and especially noted for his bravery and devotion<br />

during the cholera epidemic of 1849. which continued<br />

seven successive summers. His Boone cholera powders<br />

were very efficient and very widely used. He was Alderman<br />

and then Mayor of Chicago and was the first to enforce<br />

the Sunday law. When war was declared he was the<br />

first man to offer to give a house and lot to the first woman<br />

made a widow through the misfortune of war. This house<br />

and lot was given to the gallant Col. Mulligan's Brigade.<br />

He died Jan. 24. 1883. at the homestead: she died at the<br />
