Jennings. Dec. 10. 1844. He died suddenly of pneumonia,
Nov. 29. 18*53. He was buried in Cedar Grove cemetery at
Xew London. Conn. He was a prominent merchant in Xew
York Citv in 1831. He was burned out that year. He retired
from business in 1874 and removed to Xew London,
Conn., where he resided until his death. He was of unimpeachable
character, strong in his convictions, wide benevolence,
was deeply read in theology, biography and constitutional
and political history. He was devoted to the colored
race. He organized a large class of colored people whom he
taught Sabbath afternoons up to the week of his death.
The parents of Catherine were Nathan Tilestone Jennings,
married in Xew York City by Rev. Philip Milldollar,
May 27. 181 5. He was born in Windham. Conn.. July 10.
1761 and died May 9. 1855. in Boonton. X. J., and buried
in Greenwood cemetery. Children:
