Jennings. Dec. 10. 1844. He died suddenly of pneumonia,<br />

Nov. 29. 18*53. He was buried in Cedar Grove cemetery at<br />

Xew London. Conn. He was a prominent merchant in Xew<br />

York Citv in 1831. He was burned out that year. He retired<br />

from business in 1874 and removed to Xew London,<br />

Conn., where he resided until his death. He was of unimpeachable<br />

character, strong in his convictions, wide benevolence,<br />

was deeply read in theology, biography and constitutional<br />

and political history. He was devoted to the colored<br />

race. He organized a large class of colored people whom he<br />

taught Sabbath afternoons up to the week of his death.<br />

The parents of Catherine were Nathan Tilestone Jennings,<br />

married in Xew York City by Rev. Philip Milldollar,<br />

May 27. 181 5. He was born in Windham. Conn.. July 10.<br />

1761 and died May 9. 1855. in Boonton. X. J., and buried<br />

in Greenwood cemetery. Children:<br />
