has won contracts to supply
Kaplan bulb turbine components
to Sichuan and continues its
success in the Chinese market.

KEY PROJECTS
The scope of supply comprises the
hydraulic design and main components
of three Kaplan bulb turbines
for the ZILANBA project as well as
the main components of four Kaplan
bulb turbines for the JINXI project.
Already in December 2003,
VA TECH HYDRO was awarded the
contract to manufacture and deliver
the runner blades for XIA LONG
MEN power plant, which comprises
four Kaplan pit turbines. All projects
are located in the province of
Sichuan, China. The new contract
came into force early in January
2004.
The projects will be carried out together
with DONGFANG, a well-established
Chinese turbine and generator
manufacturer. Subsequently,
a contract was signed with DONG-
FANG which is to form the basis of
cooperation in future projects.
Since 1978, VA TECH HYDRO has
supplied turbines, generators and
power plant equipment for more
than 20 hydropower plants in China.
These new projects will enable
VA TECH HYDRO to again strengthen
its position as a competent and
experienced partner for sustainable
solutions in the booming hydro market
of China.
The equipment is scheduled to be
delivered in 2005 and 2006. The
power plants shall commence commercial
operation in 2006 and 2007.
