8.10.2. If the <strong>Air</strong>man’s expiration of their AGR order is later than the requested retirement<br />

date, AGRs must apply for and receive approval for curtailment of their AGR tour prior to<br />

submitting application for retirement.<br />

8.10.3. AGR officers with prior enlisted service must have at least 10 years of service as a<br />

commissioned officer to retire at the commissioned grade IAW AFI <strong>36</strong>-3202, Service<br />

Retirements, Chapter 2.<br />

8.11. Documentation of Service.<br />

8.11.1. The FSS will issue a DD 214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty<br />

to <strong>Air</strong>men separating from the AGR program and remaining as a Drill Status Guardsman<br />

(DSG) in accordance with AFI <strong>36</strong>-3202, Separation Documents. AGR separation/retirement<br />

DD 214s are accomplished by HQ ARPC.<br />

8.11.2 If an <strong>Air</strong>man’s release from the AGR program is prior to being discharged from the ANG<br />

and the character of service is other than ―Honorable‖, enter the statement ―To be determined by<br />

discharge proceedings‖ on the DD Form 214 in item 24. Upon completion of discharge<br />

proceedings a DD Form 215, Correction to DD Form 214, Certificate of Release or Discharge<br />

from Active Duty, must be completed to correct the DD Form 214 to reflect the appropriate<br />

characterization of service.
