Table 20 list the number of maize hectares that were irrigated at least once in 2003 compared to the
total of harvested maize areas per region. Discrepancies may arise because of differences in the
figures for sown and harvested areas or because grain and silage maize do not represent the total
crop (energy, corn-cob-mix, seed production are not systematically included). Figure 6 shows a map
of the proportion of irrigated maize in France, Greece, Italy and Spain for the year 2000.
