5. SHIP SUMMARY UPDATE
5.1 Over the years, the Council has worked successfully in partnership with Registered
Social Landlords (RSLs) and developers to create new affordable housing for rent
and low-cost home ownership. However, over past two years the Council has been
in a position to take advantage of an increase in Scottish Government grant funding
as a result of having a strong deliverable 5 year forward programme developed
through the Strategic Housing Investment Planning framework. This has allowed
the delivery of a significant number of new affordable homes in 2009-10 & 2010-11
to meet local housing needs and offer a wider choice of affordable housing options
within the Falkirk Council area. The SHIP has been delivered through a strong
relationship between partners and a willingness from all partners to make financial
contributions towards the delivery of new affordable homes.
2009-10 SHIP Outcomes
5.2 • Total AHIP funding received - £9,138,929
• Total of 123 new affordable homes delivered:
• 43 completed units at Wood St, Grangemouth,
• 32 completed units at Craigleith Road, Grangemouth,
• 32 completed units at Lomond Drive, Langlees,
• 16 completed units at Westway Apartments, Bo’ness.
In addition to new units delivered through the core AHIP, affordable units have also
been delivered via:
Existing supply with change of tenure to affordable housing - 27 units:
• 6 units through the RSL Mortgage to Rent scheme,
• 21 units through the Open Market Shared Equity scheme (OMSE).
