5. SHIP SUMMARY UPDATE 5.1 Over the years, the Council has worked successfully in partnership with Registered Social Landlords (RSLs) and developers to create new affordable housing for rent and low-cost home ownership. However, over past two years the Council has been in a position to take advantage of an increase in Scottish Government grant funding as a result of having a strong deliverable 5 year forward programme developed through the Strategic Housing Investment Planning framework. This has allowed the delivery of a significant number of new affordable homes in 2009-10 & 2010-11 to meet local housing needs and offer a wider choice of affordable housing options within the Falkirk Council area. The SHIP has been delivered through a strong relationship between partners and a willingness from all partners to make financial contributions towards the delivery of new affordable homes. 2009-10 SHIP Outcomes 5.2 • Total AHIP funding received - £9,138,929 • Total of 123 new affordable homes delivered: • 43 completed units at Wood St, Grangemouth, • 32 completed units at Craigleith Road, Grangemouth, • 32 completed units at Lomond Drive, Langlees, • 16 completed units at Westway Apartments, Bo’ness. In addition to new units delivered through the core AHIP, affordable units have also been delivered via: Existing supply with change of tenure to affordable housing - 27 units: • 6 units through the RSL Mortgage to Rent scheme, • 21 units through the Open Market Shared Equity scheme (OMSE). 2010 -11 SHIP Targets 5.3 • Total AHIP fund target - £5,341,000 • Total unit approval target – 55 units: • 21 units at Bellsdyke Hospital site, Larbert, • 28 units at Overton, Redding, • 6 units at Bridge Street, Bonnybridge. • Total unit completion target – 119 units: • 30 units at Wood Street, Grangemouth (Complete), • 43 units at Torwoodlea, Larbert (Complete), • 20 units at Thorndene Terrace, Slamannan (Complete), • 16 units at Mayfield Drive, Longcroft (On-site), • 10 units at McTaggart Avenue, Denny (On-site). In addition to new affordable units delivered through the core AHIP, units will also be delivered via: Council new Build programme – 96 units: • 8 units at Sawers Avenue, (Complete), • 4 units at Carse Crescent, Laurieston (Complete), • 12 units at Chisholm Place, Grangemouth (On-site), • 10 units at Carron Road(Small site), Bainsford (On-site), • 20 units at Shiel Gardens, Langlees (On-site), • 18 units at Chequers, Hallglen (On-site), • 24 units at Cadzow Avenue, Bo’ness (Due on-site Dec 2010). Existing supply with change of tenure to affordable housing - 18 units: • 8 units completed through the Council’s Mortgage to Rent scheme, • 2 units completed through the RSL Mortgage to Rent scheme, • 8 units completed through the OMSE scheme.
