nearly sixty years ago, Sudras are now being definitely
instructed for baptism. But the experience of the C.M.S.
and the L.M.S. has gone far beyond ours. In their
spheres already a real movement has for some time
spread from the Christian congregations to the Sudra
population. Hence it is that, if the classes that are lords
of the soil are the objective, we feel that our way is,
under the circumstances, the most direct possible to the
end. And when those classes, with their sturdiness of
character and security of livelihood, have been won,
then our Telugu Mission will be able to merge into a
truly independent and indigenous Church.
