1. Relevance<br />
Research and development into providing reliable and<br />
sustainable electricity is an important part of today’s<br />
energy landscape. In particular, it is important that<br />
energy utilities find new, more sustainable ways of<br />
providing energy.<br />
2. Compilation<br />
2.1 Report Research and Development (R&D)<br />
activities in areas of direct expenditures and<br />
research collaboration. Provide a breakdown of<br />
R&D expenditure, drawing particular attention to<br />
categories relating to sustainable development.<br />
These categories might include:<br />
• Energy efficiency;<br />
• Renewable energy technologies;<br />
• Distributed energy;<br />
• Transmission and distribution technologies e.g.<br />
smart grids and micro grids;<br />
• Advanced generation and technologies, e.g.<br />
carbon capture storage; and<br />
• Innovative sustainability related services e.g.<br />
smart metering.<br />
