The temperature to be used Bhould, of course, be that of the gaR within
the cylinder, and it is believed that such temperature can be obtained
quite accurately by attaching a thermometer to the cylinder in such a
way that the bulb will rest against the cylinder and allowing it to rernajn
in that position for a few minutes.
TELETYPE MAPS
Much confusion has been experienccd RR a rc~sult of receiving copirs of
teletype maps which do not bear the nihme of the station forwarding
such maps to the Central Office in accordance with instructionfl. Station
officials arc, therefor(., requested to see thnt the name of their Rtritioii
is entered on the maps before thcy are forwardcd to the Contra1 Ofiiccl.
Supplies for use in the preparation of these mapR, such na copying
ribbons and pencils, ditto paper, gelatin rolls, ete., should be requestcad
from the Assistant Communications Supervisors for the district in which
the station is located.

OMISSION OF PILOT-BALLOON OBSERVATIONS

In order that no pilot-balloon observations be omitted, except when
absolutely necossnry, all stations are reminded to follow closely the instructions
in paragraph 82 of Circular 0. Special attcntioii is cullcd to
that part of the instructions which state8 that an asccmion should be
made within 80 minutes of the Rcheduled time, cither brforc or aftvr,
if weather conditions prcvent or are caxprvted to prevent making the
obeervation at the schr~daled timti.

VERIFICATION OF PILOT-BALLOON FORMS
It is noted that Form 1114 ie forwardad to the Central Oflice without
verification Rignature, as providcd for in the lower left-hand coriwr
of the form. It is a180 apparent that Forms 1124 and 1117 are frcqucnlly
forwarded without being verified, and consrquently a large nunibor of
errors are found in these form,
In order that the number of errors may br reduced to a minimum, all
balloon forma should be verified, and Form 1114 ~hould be signed before
forwarding to the Central OHica,
