carried a short notice which concurred with the opinions <strong>of</strong><br />

The .'Grains Chronicle;<br />

Mss Phillips played her part with great success,<br />

and she was much and very deservedly applauded<br />

throughout the representation. Her scene with<br />

lachimo, when he sees her for the first time, was<br />

very ably performed, and in it Miss Phillips displayed<br />

a great deal <strong>of</strong> dignity and much pathos.<br />

On the whole her performance <strong>of</strong> this very interesting<br />

character was extremely good, and it was<br />

greatly admired by a very numerous audience.<br />

Miss Phillips did not play the r$le again in London,<br />

after the two performances on February 9 and 16, 1829? nor<br />

did Young appear again in the play.<br />
