Data taken from publications were critically analyzed respecting to their reliability. Data base is installed as a standalone version at our institute and the data can be inquired of there. Extensive investigations of thermal conductivity and hardness of industrial aluminiumsilicon-based alloys have been performed in order to find the correlation between both properties. The hardness belongs to the important parameters describing the metallurgical state of the alloy. It can be quickly and readily determined. The measurements of the thermal conductivity are expensive and time consuming. The correlation obtained makes it possible to replace in some cases the thermal conductivity investigations by simpler hardness measurements.
