Since apparently a very old group of the Lepidoptera is concerned,
variability of the genital structures may be expected. This variation,
however, in the males at least, is so great that at present the
genus Copromorpha seems to be heterogeneous. There are forms with
simple, bifid or tiifid valvae, with simple or furcate uncus. Oiu"
present knowledge of the group is not sufficient, though, for a subgeneric
division of the known species—^unless almost every species of
which males are available be indicated as a type of a new subgenus;
this would hardly be natm-al.
