Sura cyanolampra, new species<br />

Female, 32-35 mm. Head light fulvous orange, orbits except<br />

above, white, face silvery yellowish, on forehead and in center with<br />

blackish reflections. Palpus subascending, moderately long, bright<br />

orange, basal segment with a fulvous tinge. Antenna (broken in<br />

holotype) ochreous or orange, basal portion and scape blackish above.<br />

Patagia bright orange, with a big purple-blue median patch. Thorax<br />

dark piu"ple, with prismatic reflections. Pectus dark grey with a<br />

strong slate gloss. Anterior femur and tibia with a strong fan of<br />

scales along outer edge, dark purple with some greenish gloss, tarsus<br />

bright orange except above. Median and posterior legs glossy purphsh<br />

grey, femora inwardly with a white fringe; spurs whitish from<br />

above, a bunch of white scales beyond base of spurs, some yellowish<br />

hairs mixed with the top of posterior tibia; tarsi slightly mixed with<br />

yellowish. Abdomen dark purple, tergum shining deep metallic blue,<br />

second segment with a lateral patch of white hairs.<br />

Forewmg rather abruptly more dilated beyond tornus. Black,<br />

densely sujffused with indigo green, turning bright indigo blue beyond<br />

cell and changing into indigo purple towards termen; a small bright<br />

purple spot on extreme base of wing; a rather short streak of brilliant<br />

shining pale green below base of cell from beyond base of wing.<br />

blackish bronze.<br />

Hindwing black strongly suffused with indigo green,<br />

especially in<br />

center turning bright indigo blue, in extreme apex purple; a hyaline,<br />

colorless band just before termen and dorsum, from apex to vein la,<br />

dilated twice in cell 2, IK times in cell Ic and almost filling out cell lb;<br />

a moderate oval hyaline spot below cell beyond base ; ends of veins in<br />

hyaline band narrowly black, except veins lb and Ic which are broader<br />

black.<br />

Cilia black.<br />

Female genitalia: Genital segment elongate, sclerotized, ventral<br />

split rather wide, dilated downward. Lamella postvaginalis not<br />

modified, finely aciculate.<br />

Lamella antevaginahs forming separated<br />

lower (rostral) edge of segment as a pair of strong rods, dilated and<br />

converging mesially so as to form an elongate sclerite, spHt above<br />

(caudaUy). Ostium bursae apparently situated above (caudally) of<br />

this structure, membranous. Colliculum membranous, aciculate.<br />

Cestum, short, semiannular. Ductus bursae long, simple. Corpus<br />

bursae finely aciculate,<br />

with numerous regular transverse folds.<br />

genit. sUde 5303, 1 9, paratype. Antimoan (B.P. Clark), 1 9, paratype<br />
