Diploclasis balbidophora, new species<br />

Male, 16 mm. Head light orange, face yeUow, a rounded brown<br />

spot on vertex and forehead. Antennal ciliations over 1; scape<br />

elongate, clavate, yellow, with a brown mark on basal half above,<br />

flagellum dark grey, ringed with black, towards base yellow, along<br />

apical third pale yellow. Labial palpus very long, recurved, median<br />

segment slightly thickened, rather smooth, subascending, over 3X<br />

face, orange yellow; ^\dth a faint transverse purpUsh subapical mark<br />

anteriorly; terminal segment over 1/2, orange yellow; a subbasal ring,<br />

anterior streak and four small dentations of the internal edge of this<br />

streak blackish purple. Thorax brown, tip and posterior half of tegula<br />

orange, three longitudinal orange-bro%Miish lines, lateral short, median<br />

complete. Abdomen dark purple, u'regularly banded with yellow,<br />

venter yellow.<br />

Forewing with veins 3 and 4 moderately approximated, from angle;<br />

suboval, moderately broad, costa curved, apex subobtuse, termen<br />

rounded, oblique. Bright yellow orange, markings dark pm-ple. A<br />

subbasal transverse fascia, strongly curved, from base of costa to dorsum<br />

beyond base, with an acute posterior angulation above middle, and<br />

extended along dorsum so as to form a semioval spot reaching to base<br />

of fold; an N -shaped zigzag mark, from 2/5 of dorsum to middle of<br />

costa, thence to 3/4 of dorsum and finally to costa before apex; points<br />

of contact with costa slightly extended along costal edge ; anterior arm<br />

of the N narrower, vertical along lower half, with the base narrowly<br />

and strongly extended along dorsum, a posterior horizontal branch from<br />

this arm running just below cell and almost touching the median<br />

branch of the N. Cilia dark purple, basal half yellow around apex and<br />

along upper part of termen.<br />

Hindwing elongate, semioval, about 2/3, cilia 1/2; veins 3 and 4<br />

connate. Deep bronze brown, cilia bright yellow with basal fourth<br />

bronze brown and with a whitish basal line, entirely bronze brown<br />

opposite apex, pale yellow along costa.<br />

Male genitalia: Tegumen moderate, top rounded. Uncus not<br />

separated or absent. Transtilla absent. Valva elongate, moderate,<br />

rather thickened, dilated. Sacculus sclerotized, over 1, ending in a<br />

sharp point; cucullus equally sclerotized, with a separate rounded<br />

top.<br />

Aedeagus moderate, curved, its base extending into a tortuous<br />

ductus ejaculatorius as a tortuous, bandlike sclerite.<br />
