rowed in middle. Vinculum large, broadly rounded. Valv^a very<br />

large, costa and cucullus portion membranous, making \\dde and<br />

undulating folds (only partially expanded in mount) ; sacculus part<br />

moderately broad, rigid, ending in a triangular lobe. Sacculus proper<br />

narrow, dilated posterad, top sclerotized, subobtuse. Aedeagus with<br />

a truncate top and a peculiar subapical denticulate and curved thorn.<br />

Cornuti, a sheaf of some three very long spines.<br />

Female genitalia: Ostium and coUiculum together forming a long<br />

simple funnel, with a moderately sclerotized, slightly wrinkled wall;<br />

a slight, paler constriction indicating the connection of ostium with<br />

coUiculum ; low^er extremity of this funnel obliterate in front. Ductus<br />

bursae rather long, with two coils, with a very thin cestrum. Corpus<br />

bursae inverted. Signum, an obliquely striped rather long dagger.<br />

The species is nearest to Archips spilotoma (Meyrick), new combination,<br />

from Celebes,<br />

Male, 21 mm. Head light browm, posterior edge of eye pale<br />

ochreous. Antenna ochreous. Palpus pale ochreous, irrorated w4th<br />

fulvous, except at base. Thorax pale ochreous lilac, posterior half<br />

mixed with dark brown. Abdomen light yellow, strongly mixed<br />

wdth dark browm, hairy.<br />

Forewing without a costal fold, broadly suboval, dilated to middle,<br />

scarcely dilated beyond middle; costa moderately curved throughout,<br />

gently prominent before middle, apex subrectangular, moderately<br />

pointed, termen gently rounded, little oblique. Pale ochreous on<br />

basal third, thence becoming pale fulvous lilac; an irregular lilac<br />

suffusion on posterior fourth of dorsum, rising halfway across wing.<br />

Markings deep purple with a green gloss in certain lights, edged with<br />

pale ochreous. Edge of costa suffused with pale orange, its anterior<br />

third with three small dots; basal patch indicated by a somewiiat<br />

irregular, strongly outwards-oblique wedge-shaped mark with point<br />

on dorsum beyond base, rising to middle of wing, top obliquely truncate;<br />

transverse fascia incomplete, tolerably straight, from 2/5 of<br />

costa to 3/4 of dorsum; upper half of this fascia forming a conspicuous<br />

inverted-clavate mark, with a triangularly dilated base on costa and<br />

a rounded top reaching middle of disc; this mark preceded by illdefined<br />

lilac suffusion; some four marks betw^een this and dorsum<br />

indicating lower half of fascia; first of these purple, rounded, moderate,<br />

last ferruginous, oval; other, minute, turning fulvous, edged with<br />

ochreous orange; a feW' purple scales below 1/3 of costa and below<br />

middle of fold; three purple triangular spots on posterior half of costa,<br />

quicldy becoming larger and less distant posteriorly; ultimate one of
