The non-cutting production of dynamically balanced profiles based on cold forming, where the profile is rolled into the surface of the corresponding blank, is referred to as "thread rolling". This method is significantly faster and more cost-efficient for large quantities than other methods for thread production. Prerequisite: Materials with an extensibility of 12%. Advantages: •Rollers can be turned: if after extended use the rollers are worn on one side, the lock washers are radially pushed off (e. g. using a screw driver) and the rollers are turned. •significantly improved strength through cold working •no interrupted fibre flow as with cut threads •reduced notch sensitivity and high dimensional accuracy •press-polished edges and improved resistance to wear •significantly reduced material consumption and improved corrosion resistance •no torn-out threads as can be the case with cutting •rational manufacture Note: When replacing the spare thread rolls, attention shall be paid that mounting is in the correct position. The roll marked 1 is mounted on the axis with chamfering on the front face. The other rolls are successively mounted in the clockwise direction.
