MH-65D ESS Geo-positioning Accuracy and Maintenance Impact<br />
Flight Test<br />
Mission Need: Validate Electro-optical Infrared Sensor System (ESS) geo-positioning accuracy and reduce<br />
resource burden imposed by current calibration requirements for <strong>USCG</strong> MH-65D fleet.<br />
<strong>Project</strong> Objectives:<br />
• Conduct airborne MH-65D ESS geo-positioning accuracy tests to evaluate<br />
target positioning errors (1) after conducting a standard calibration and (2)<br />
without calibration following various maintenance actions that involve<br />
removal and replacement of key ESS components.<br />
• Document geo-positioning errors for each test scenario.<br />
• Provide recommendations concerning circumstances under which recalibration<br />
should be performed.<br />
