The participants also noted that the use <strong>of</strong> models requires a significant, susta<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>and</strong> dedicated effort over the lifetime<br />

<strong>of</strong> the model to collect <strong>and</strong> update high quality <strong>and</strong> reliable data at a suitable resolution <strong>and</strong> to ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong> <strong>and</strong> adapt<br />

suitable models. The ma<strong>in</strong> barriers to the adoption <strong>of</strong> complex models are the need for enhanced f<strong>in</strong>ancial resources <strong>and</strong><br />

<strong>in</strong>stitutional capacity. In some cases, access to suitable models, <strong>and</strong> the ability to modify them, rema<strong>in</strong>s a barrier to their<br />

use.<br />
