called 'Transcan', which<br />

is a 3D imaging device<br />

for full body scans without<br />

any physical contact.<br />

This product is able to<br />

take a full body shot<br />

within 0.1 seconds. The<br />

technology that it uses is<br />

applicable to various industries,<br />

such as medical,<br />

fashion, preventive<br />

medicine, oriental medicine,<br />

obesity clinics, fitness<br />

etc. The 3D image<br />

displayed on the monitor<br />

is received, <strong>and</strong> created to be analyzed by various software<br />

applications, which combine to provide accurate statistics. It<br />

will calculate the full length of the body, circumference, volume,<br />

body ratio, <strong>and</strong> also the full façade or a cross section that<br />

give various information. In addition to calculations <strong>and</strong><br />

analysis, Transcan automatically provides exercise <strong>and</strong> nutrition<br />

recommendations. Different from other scanners, no<br />

waiting time is required. It is also harmless to human body<br />

since the shot is taken by 16 digital cameras rather than with<br />

laser methods. Kim Chang-ho, president of MINIMI<br />

DREAM stated that this equipment will be a necessity <strong>and</strong><br />

useful to the government, defense, labs, universities <strong>and</strong> others<br />

that require a close analysis for detailed database. For example,<br />

KRISS(<strong>Korea</strong> Research Institute of St<strong>and</strong>ards <strong>and</strong><br />

Science) says that Transcan will reduce the time for examining<br />

bodies in schools <strong>and</strong> the military that operates many physical<br />

examines, <strong>and</strong> be utilized to analyze <strong>and</strong> categorize st<strong>and</strong>ard<br />

body types, <strong>and</strong> also prevent obesity <strong>and</strong> diseases to maintain<br />

health. Professor Ko Hyung-suk, Digital Clothing <strong>Center</strong> of<br />

Seoul National <strong>University</strong> expressed a positive gesture on the<br />

integration of the full-body scanner to the Digital Clothins<br />

Suite, which he himself has developed as a Clothing-<strong>IT</strong><br />

Fusion system.<br />
