NBL Finals Hosting Document
For application in the 2007 season
Preamble
The NBL semi-final and finals “Finals” will be played at the home venue of the top qualifying
team(s) according to Rule 7, each game being an “Event” under this document. NBL Ltd
however, reserves the right to adopt other finals hosting rules with the agreement of teams
involved.
General
The responsibility of home team(s) “Home Teams” will be the staging, management and promotion
of the Event at their home venue, under the direction of NBL Ltd. Specific responsibilities
of the home team and NBL Ltd are outlined in this document. For the avoidance
of doubt, if the Home Team does not organize a venue of a standard acceptable to NBL Ltd,
then NBLL Ltd will have the authority to either offer the hosting of the game to the other
team or find another venue suitable for hosting the final (in each case at the risk and cost of
the Home Team).
Event Hosting Responsibilities
NBL Final games are under the jurisdiction of NBL Ltd but will be the responsibility of the
Host Franchise to operate the event, like a regular season home game. The Host Franchise
will be responsible for the costs of operating the event and the Host Franchise will retain
100% of event profits.
NBL Ltd Responsibilities
1. Direct and Liaise with the Host Franchise’s Event Manager;
2. Ensure the Rules and Operations of Hosting an NBL Final are followed throughout the
Event;
3. Provide the visiting team with a share of the NBL Finals Travel Fund for travelling requirements
approved by the General Manager of the NBL such as:
• accommodation
• travel requirements (air and road)
(subject to a travel subsidy per team (covered by a small entry surcharge) for any finals
team traveling away (based on regular season travel history));
4. Provide Finals Officials:
• Transport to the venue. Return airfares, and 1 x vehicle for referees
• Accommodation.
• Referee game fees and expenses
Host Franchise Responsibilities
1. Event Management:
(a) Book the stadium. This shall include:
• Venue hire including cleaning and power.
• Seating banks as required.
