of an offence arising from NBLL related activities by persons for which NBLL has
jurisdiction over.
16.2 Allegations of misconduct in relation to an NBLL game (including conduct before or
after the game) are to be made in the manner described in the BBNZ Judicial Regulations.
16.3 The League Manager, who for the purposes of these rules shall act as the League Commissioner,
shall be the designated recipient of all reports of an alleged offence.
16.4 NBLL shall annually appoint a Judicial Committee comprising a minimum of three persons
who have no connection with any NBLL team or other associated basketball bodies
and who shall be responsible for considering reports forwarded by the League Commissioner
in accordance with these rules and the BBNZ Judicial Regulations.
16.5 All individual player penalties recorded in game(s) and suspensions are to apply to
League games, National Team games, any other affiliated competition and Basketball
Australia affiliated Leagues and Competitions. Without limiting the sanctions or penalties
which may be imposed by the Judicial Committee if, for any reason, any player or
member of the coaching staff is ejected from any NBLL game that person will receive an
automatic one-game suspension following the game from which they were ejected.
16.6 An appeal of a decision(s) is to be made through the Basketball New Zealand appeals
process as set out in the Basketball New Zealand Judicial Regulations.
16.7 An Appeal of a decision of the Judicial Committee is to be made to the BBNZ Appeal
Committee in accordance with the Basketball Judicial Regulations.
17 Disputes
17.1 All disputes regarding matches, other than allegations of an offence to which rule 15 applies,
must be lodged in writing with the League Manager within 72 hours of the game,
followed by a full written report within five working days of the game.
17.2 A dispute hearing levy of $1,000 must be electronically banked with NBLL by the close
of business on the day the full written report is lodged or the next working day if the
report is made over a weekend or public holiday. Failure to lodge this levy within the
necessary time may result in the dispute being dismissed without hearing at the sole
discretion of the League Manager.
17.3 The League Manager shall consider the details of the dispute and, if necessary, consult
with appropriate personnel to determine the action required (if any).
17.4 Should the complaint be proved, the hearing levy will be refunded and an appropriate
fine or penalty may be levied against the offending party.
17.5 Should the complaint be dismissed, the League Manager may recover costs associated
to the hearing of this dispute from the levy. Complaints dismissed as being frivolous
will lead to the forfeiture of the levy in full.
17.6 The League Manager’s decision, in relation to disputes to which this rule 16 applies, is
