— Cristel Small made her initial appearance in court after being arrested for running a child<br />

— Small was arrested after three men paid her to have sex with three female children in her<br />

• January 30, 2011- Baton Rouge<br />

— Erick Jermaine Banks, 29, was checking out <strong>of</strong> a Baton Rouge hotel at about 3 a.m. when he<br />
was arrested and booked into Parish Prison on trafficking <strong>of</strong> children for sexual purposes,<br />
reported Sgt. Don Stone.<br />
— When police arrived, they found a 15-year-old runaway who told them she had been used for<br />
prostitution for several days<br />
— She told police that Banks placed an advertisement on an unknown domain online <strong>of</strong>fering<br />
her for sex<br />
• February 17-18, 2010 – New Orleans<br />
— Reported February 22, 2010, by Michelle Hunter <strong>of</strong> The Times-Picayune<br />
— A joint investigation resulted in the arrests <strong>of</strong> two, separate pimps.<br />
— Two girls, a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old, were taken into custody during prostitution stings<br />
at local motels. That led to their pimps being sought out and arrested.<br />
— On February 17, Alesha Bailey was charged with Child <strong>Trafficking</strong> for <strong>Sex</strong> Purposes. Her<br />
and her boyfriend took nude photos <strong>of</strong> the 16-year-old victim and posted them on a website.<br />
— On February 18, Nicholas Crutchfield was charged with Child <strong>Trafficking</strong> for <strong>Sex</strong> Purposes,<br />
Promoting Prostitution, Carnal Knowledge <strong>of</strong> a Juvenile and Contributing to the Delinquency<br />
<strong>of</strong> a Juvenile because <strong>of</strong> his interaction and coercion <strong>of</strong> the 15-year-old victim.<br />
Maine<br />
• July 8, 2010 – Kittery<br />
— Reported July 8, 2010, by Elizabeth Dinan <strong>of</strong> The Portsmouth Herald.<br />
— Gary Reiner was released from federal prison having served 60 months for managing a<br />
brothel that <strong>of</strong>fered underage girls for prostitution.<br />
— Sentenced March 3, 2006, but was released early for good behavior (5 year sentence)<br />
— One victim was 13-years-old.<br />
Maryland<br />
• May 20, 2011- Gaithersburg*<br />
— Reported on May 20, 2011, by Danielle E. Gaines <strong>of</strong> Gazette.net<br />
— William D. Martinez, 25, and James W. Torrence, 63, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor<br />
charge <strong>of</strong> solicitation <strong>of</strong> prostitution after being arrested in a November police investigation<br />
using backpage.com where the men thought they were going to meet a 15-year-old girl for<br />
sex<br />
— All 11 men arrested in the sting were originally charged with sexual solicitation <strong>of</strong> a minor, a<br />
felony that carries a maximum penalty <strong>of</strong> 10 years in prison<br />
• May 11, 2011- Baltimore<br />
— Reported on May 11, 2011, by Justin Fenton <strong>of</strong> The Baltimore Sun<br />
— A 43-year-old Glen Burnie man was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for child sex<br />
trafficking, after a missing 12-year-old called relatives from an Anne Arundel County motel<br />
room and said she had been "recruited" into prostitution.<br />
— Derwin Samuel Smith's sentence also includes 20 years <strong>of</strong> supervised release<br />
