— Friday morning 27-year-old Brandon Thompson received his sentence <strong>of</strong> life in prison for sex<br />
trafficking and trying to hire someone to kill a possible witness.<br />
— Instead <strong>of</strong> giving Thompson 30 years or less per the recommendation in the plea agreement,<br />
Judge Karen Schreier sentenced him to life behind bars, for operating an online prostitution<br />
ring out <strong>of</strong> this home in Tea, with underage girls in 2009.<br />
— Previously reported February 26, 2011 by Associated Press: Two people accused in a<br />
South Dakota sex trafficking ring sentenced for conspiracy to commit sex trafficking. Joshua<br />
Payer receives 22 months and Megan Hayes one year in prison.<br />
— Previously reported November 17, 2010 by Sioux City Journal: Thompson pleaded guilty<br />
to one count <strong>of</strong> sex trafficking <strong>of</strong> a child and one count <strong>of</strong> solicitation to murder a federal<br />
witness. Thompson advertised the prostitution services on a website, Backpage.com.<br />
Megan Marie Hayes conspired with Thompson to harbor, transport, and maintain an<br />
underage person to engage in a commercial sex act.<br />
— Previously reported November 10, 2010 by Argus Leader: Former Sioux Falls emergency<br />
room doctor Joshua Payer, 36, pleaded guilty to sex trafficking and drug dealing today in<br />
federal court. He was accused <strong>of</strong> paying for sex with several teen girls through an alleged<br />
prostitution ring run by Tea resident named Brandon Thompson.<br />
— Payer’s arrest previously reported November 2, 2010 and September 30, 2010 in Argus<br />
Leader.<br />
— Hayes and Thompson arrests initially reported December 21, 2009 in The Rapid City<br />
Journal. Megan Hayes, 30, and her boyfriend Brandon Quincy Thompson, 26, were arrested<br />
for using the online classified Web site Backpage.com to sell the prostitution services <strong>of</strong><br />
underage girls.<br />
• February 15, 2011- Sioux Falls*<br />
— Reported on February 15, 2011, by Ben Dunsmoor <strong>of</strong> Keloland.com<br />
— Three men face federal sex trafficking charges after <strong>of</strong>ficials caught them in an undercover<br />
sex sting in Sioux Falls.<br />
— 'Operation Crossing Guard' led to the arrests <strong>of</strong> 53-year-old Ronald Bonestroo and 31-yearold<br />
Jeffrey Krogman, both from Sioux Falls. Forty-year-old Daron Jungers is from Sioux City.<br />
— Three advertisements were posted on Craigslist and Backpage.com that led to the arrests,<br />
advertising a 14 year old and 11 year old girl<br />
— All <strong>of</strong> the men face a maximum sentence <strong>of</strong> life in prison if found guilty.<br />

• August 2, 2010 – Sioux Falls<br />
— Reported August 2, 2010, by Melissa Payne <strong>of</strong> KDLT.<br />
— Autumn Dubray, 24, was arrested for promoting prostitution <strong>of</strong> a minor.<br />
— Dubray had made a comment that she wanted the juvenile to have sex with men for money.<br />
— She also brought over five men to the apartment, and told the 17-year-old she had to have<br />
sex with one <strong>of</strong> them, and if she didn't, she would be kicked out, and would have nowhere to<br />
live.<br />
Tennessee<br />
• July 3, 2011- Memphis<br />
— Reported on July 3, 2011, by The Associated Press<br />
— The trial <strong>of</strong> a 52-year-old man on charges <strong>of</strong> commercial sex trafficking involving a teen and<br />
two women is set for Aug. 1 in federal court in Memphis.<br />
— Federal prosecutors say Charles Kizer served as a pimp and kept a hatchet under his car<br />
seat in case any <strong>of</strong> the women he controlled got out <strong>of</strong> line.<br />
— Kizer's federal public defender, Randy Alden, said told The Commercial Appeal that his client<br />
has pleaded not guilty.<br />
