— A federal grand jury in Alexandria indicted 21-year-old Alonso Bruno Cornejo Ormeno on<br />

charges <strong>of</strong> sex trafficking <strong>of</strong> children and transportation with intent to engage in criminal<br />

sexual activity.<br />

— The indictment alleges that he trafficked the girls between February 2008 and October 2010.<br />

— Court records say Cornejo Ormeno would tell clients a girl was young, and advertise her as a<br />

"high school girl" and "fresh out <strong>of</strong> the box." He would also give the girls alcohol and drugs,<br />

and encourage them to finish appointments faster to "move onto the next client more quickly."<br />

— A Henrico man convicted <strong>of</strong> running a prostitution ring involving underage girls from his<br />

apartment has been sentenced to four years in prison.<br />

— Jody H. Larson was sentenced on Tuesday for his guilty plea to receiving money from<br />

prostitution, aiding prostitution and contributing to the delinquency <strong>of</strong> a minor.<br />

— Prosecutors say Larson advertised the services <strong>of</strong> two girls on Craigslist.<br />

• March 15, 2011- Newport*<br />

— Reported on March 15, 2011, by Newport News (WAVY)<br />

— Newport News police say an undercover operation on Saturday night resulted in 24 people<br />

being charged with prostitution related <strong>of</strong>fenses.<br />

— The Newport News Police Department's Organized Crime Division used a website called<br />

www.backpage.com to contact suspected prostitutes and "johns" to arrange a meeting at an<br />

apartment located in the central area <strong>of</strong> the city.<br />

— One <strong>of</strong> those arrested was a 17-year old female<br />

• July 3, 2011- Alexandria<br />

— Reported on July 5, 2011, by Will Sommer <strong>of</strong> Bellehaven Patch<br />

— An Alexandria member <strong>of</strong> the MS-13 gang has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for<br />

trafficking runaway girls as prostitutes.<br />

— Alexander Rivas, 19, was sentenced in federal court in Alexandria. According to prosecutors,<br />

he recruited girls, aged 14 and 17, who had run away from home and transported them to<br />

work as prostitutes in Virginia, Maryland and the District.<br />

— Court records say he carried a machete while driving the girls to prostitution appointments,<br />

and threatened and robbed clients who didn't pay for services.<br />

— Previously reported on February 24, 2011, by Alexandria Times: Rivas aka “Casper” was<br />

arrested following a months-long investigation sparked when a parent <strong>of</strong> one <strong>of</strong> the girls<br />

tipped police <strong>of</strong>f early in November. He faces felony charges in connection with a prostitution<br />

ring he allegedly ran with local, underage girls. One victim was 14, another was 17 years old<br />

— Also reported on February 19, 2011 by The Examiner: Alexander Rivas, 18, was arrested<br />

by Alexandria police, following an investigation that began in November, when the father <strong>of</strong> a<br />

14-year-old runaway told police his daughter was living with Rivas. Rivas is charged with sex<br />

trafficking <strong>of</strong> children by force, fraud or coercion and was placed in custody.<br />

• July 23, 2010 – Woodbridge<br />

— Reported July 23, 2010, by the staff <strong>of</strong> InsideNoVa.com.<br />

— Marc Shawn Brickhouse, 32, brought a 16-year-old from California to Prince William County,<br />

Va. to force her into prostitution.<br />

— Brickhouse, was sentenced to 13 years in federal prison for trafficking the girl in Virginia,<br />

Maryland and New York from December 2009 to February 2010. The victim escaped in<br />

February and contacted the police.<br />
