VARIOFACE wiring interface<br />
Modules for ELCO connectors for use<br />
in Ex i circuits<br />
The VARIOFACE modules connect ELCO<br />
connectors of the 8016 series to screw<br />
connection terminal blocks. The modules<br />
for ELCO connectors can be used as simple<br />
electrical equipment for applications in<br />
intrinsically safe circuits as per<br />
EN 60079-14. They fulfill the requirements<br />
of the intrinsic safety as per EN 60079-11<br />
(EN 50020) <strong>and</strong> can be used for various<br />
intrinsically safe circuits taking into account<br />
the pin configuration.<br />
The voltage of an intrinsically safe circuit<br />
must not exceed 30 V. The voltage<br />
difference between two intrinsically safe<br />
circuits can be up to 60 V.<br />
The modules are equipped with blue<br />
screw connection methods are clear<br />
labeling for intrinsically safe circuits.<br />
The arrangement of angled ELCO<br />
connectors makes it possible to lead the<br />
lines led out from the cable housing away<br />
from the adjacent modules without any<br />
negative effects.<br />
For the disconnection of intrinsically safe<br />
<strong>and</strong> non-intrinsically safe circuits, a distance<br />
of at least 50 mm should be kept between<br />
the connection points using partition plates<br />
or spaces.<br />
